Our CSR commitment

A paint that restores heritage without harming the planet

Corporate Social Responsibility

Linseed oil is the oldest of French paints. By bringing it back to the fore, Seeds offers a natural alternative to petrochemical paints — and a carbon footprint that every company using it can claim in its own commitments.

Our CSR footprint

Four commitments, honoured every day

At Seeds, CSR is not an afterthought: it flows directly from the product. A French agricultural raw material, gentle chemistry, a local supply chain and craftsmanship passed on.

01

A living raw material

Flax is grown in France and captures CO₂ as it grows. Our oil is the paint’s only binder — no petroleum-based resin.

02

Gentle chemistry

No petroleum solvents, no harmful VOCs. Healthier indoor air for painters and building occupants alike.

03

A local supply chain

The only industrial linseed-oil manufacturer in France, near Auxerre. Short circuits and jobs that cannot be relocated.

04

A product built to last

A paint that does not blister and lasts for decades: fewer repaints, less waste, lower emissions over the life of the building.

Carbon footprint

Where our 1.8 kg CO₂e per litre comes from

A field-to-site life-cycle analysis. Flax grown in France captures carbon as it grows, which greatly lightens the raw-material share compared with a fossil-based resin.

Raw material (linseed oil, pigments)0.7 kg
Manufacturing (grinding, cooking)0.6 kg
Packaging0.3 kg
Transport (French average)0.2 kg

*Indicative values to be confirmed by a certified LCA (ADEME / EN 15804 methodology). Comparison made against a reference alkyd paint at ~4.2 kg CO₂e/L.

Environmental commitment & carbon footprint of the paint lot

Prepared for Atelier Durand & Fils — operation “Réfection des menuiseries — Mairie de Vézelay”

As part of this tender, the bidding company proposes the use of Seeds linseed-oil paint. This choice meets the sustainability criteria of the contract and significantly reduces the carbon footprint of the painting works, as detailed below.

Commitments carried by the Seeds choice

  • Substitution of a petrochemical paint with a bio-based linseed-oil paint made in France.
  • Direct reduction of the carbon footprint of the painting lot (see table below).
  • Better air quality on site: no petroleum solvents, no harmful VOCs.
  • Support for a local agricultural and industrial supply chain, contributing to the local-anchoring criteria of the contract.
